For Chapter Challenge this term we are reading the MapMakers Race and it is a really cool exciting book. For my first Chapter Challenge Blog post I decided to make an Advertisement for The Great Race. I did a draft in my artbook and then got my computer and started typing it up. After that was finished I changed the font and size and shared it with the teacher after that Mrs Heaven printed it out and I thought to make it look a little older I’d add some Roses. Once that was done I showed Mrs Loft and we both thought that it looked to 2020 (new not old) especially since the advert dated all the way back to 1986, ages ago so she said to rip it up a bit to make it look old but not old enough. But first I had to scrunch it up and unwind it twice. Now it was time for the tea so Teana, Madelene and I went to the Staffroom to get a teabag to rub over it to make it look old. We came back to class and got a jar of water and 3 paintbrushes then we put the tea in the water until it turned the colour your tea would look like if you hadn’t put the milk in yet. Then I grabbed the tea and squeezed it over the piece of paper. Then we grabbed a brush each and spread it all over it. Then we set it out to dry on the barbeque table. Then we needed to pack up so I brought it inside and mum put it in the teacher only room to continue drying and then it was done!! It looked really old but amazing. I am grateful that Teana and Madelene helped me with it. The most challenging part was doing the Tea part because it couldn’t get to wet or it would begin to tear.

Wow, I love how authentic your advert looks Katelyn. It was great to see the process you went through to make it look older, with the support of your peers. It certainly looks old now (as in 1986 old, like your Mum!!!) Keep up the great work
